Technical education answer to JAMB admission problems – Erogbogbo

EXECUTIVE Secretary, Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, LASTVEB, Mrs. Omolara Erogbogbo has posited that the way forward for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) yearly admission problems was embracing of technical education. She noted that if only students seeking admission into universities could embrace technical education, the issue of admission backlog and joblessness would have been over in the country.

Erogbogbo who averred that technical students were never inferior to their counterparts in other tertiary  institutions argued that they stood better chances than university graduates without technical skills.

Speaking at a media chat held at LASTVEB Conference room, Ikeja, Erogbogbo said that one of the objectives of LASTVEB was to stimulate and encourage technical and vocational education, not only as a basis for creating early technological awareness but also to provide suitable orientation for further career progression in tertiary institutions, entrepreneurship and employment. She explained that it was in this regard that the Lagos State Government empowered the Board to monitor, supervise and regulate the activities of the five government technical colleges in the state.
